The 2019 Volvo S60 benefits from a clean, sculpted look that brings it more in line with the rest of Volvo's modular architecture by mirroring a smaller version of the S90. Under the hood, a range of familiar powertrains can be found, starting with the T5 turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that can make 250 horsepower while setting a new bar for efficiency with 24mpg city and 36 mpg highway. The very powerful T6 is a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0L engine that can make 316 horsepower and 295 lb-feet of torque. The hybrid-style T8 powertrain takes the same impressive twin-charge 2.0L and adds an 82-horsepower electric motor at the rear axle and a crankshaft-mounted generator for a 400-horsepower total, bringing the total torque output to 472 lb-feet. The system's hybrid battery rides amidships to keep handling tight. All-wheel drive is standard with the T6 and T8 powertrains with an 8-speed automatic as the sole transmission choice for all models. The S60 is offered in three trims: R-Design, Momentum and Inscription. All but the Momentum are offered with the plug-in hybrid powertrain, with that system being the only way to propel the super exclusive Polestar Engineered model. The base Momentum comes with plenty of luxury features: 9-inch infotainment display, LED headlights with automatic high-beams, a panoramic power sunroof, a navigation system, a rearview camera and backup sensors, 18-inch wheels, a lane departure warning system and satellite radio with a 3-month subscription. The R-Design trim has a sportier personality. Standout features include a Harman/Kardon audio system, R-Design grille, 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display, Sport front seats, steering-wheel controls, R-Design doorsills and aluminum inlays. Finally, the top-of-the-line S60 Inscription takes luxury to a new level with a premium placed on passenger comfort. The top-spec Inscription brings power seats with adjustable lumbar and cushion-length extenders, 4-zone automatic climate control, and more exterior chrome. Lane-keeping assist and Pilot Assist, Volvo's semi-autonomous driving system, also are available in addition to the plethora of standard safety features already included. The S60 wouldn't be a Volvo if it didn't offer world-class and innovative safety systems. In addition to features such as lane keep assist and blind spot warning, Volvo's Pilot Assist II driver assistance technologies allows the S60 to steer and brake autonomously at speeds up to 80 mph, while its City Safety suite provides features like run-off road mitigation and large animal detection.
